Ignore the negative tip, new owners are the friendliest people you'll ever meet! New lunch specials everyday - soup is always amazing. And they make the BEST chocolate chip cookies ever!!! -Genevieve

Their poached eggs are fantastic. Great coffee and espresso too. -Phil

Try the lattes, italian steamed eggs with olivetta, handmade yogurt and granola, or sandwiches and salads. The new owners are awesome, and really care about locally sourced and handmade foods. -Paula

A decent weekend brunch spot without a line?? Creative, savory, Italian-centric breakfasts (read: different types of polenta and baked eggs). Good cappuccino. I'll be back. -Brian

Prosciutto and a poached egg on garlic toast is a wonderful breakfast. -Tim

House coffee is good, not great, but free refills! -Jordan

Corned beef hash made on premises, not from a can, best ever. -Dave

Great place, good coffee, fantastic furniture. -Cameron

Awesome architecture & furniture here - like the photo show... See it! -Paula

Eggs with polenta and blue cheese. Yum. -Carolyn

Polenta and blue cheese is amazing if you LOVE blue cheese. Home-made jams and great bread and A quick walk from convention center -L

Fantastic service. Love the breakfast foods here, and the cappuccino was incredible! -Leah

A nice cafe for a weekend brunch/lunch, with half the seats outside. Serving coffee roasted down the street. Definitely a eat/chat location, not for plopping down with a laptop. -Russell

House coffee is meh...would pass. -Kelly

Poached egg with Gorgonzola is the best!! -Ellen

Over 30 min wait for a take out sandwich. ? -Alex

Don't come on a Sunday unless you have nothing to do with your day. Waited for an hour for my food. Eventually just asked for my money back cuz I got sick of waiting -Rory

Best Eggs Benedict I've had. Not bad–looking either. -Jordan

Get a piece of their homemade chocolate chip cookie with your coffee. -Jinah

On a lazy Saturday morning head to Caffe 817 in Old Oakland for a breakfast of poached eggs, olive tapenade and toasted levain. Add a latte bowl or cappuccino for the perfect start to your day! -AFAR Media
